1949 Chrysler Windsor Keys
To make a key for this car, we file a blank key after getting little indentations from the pin tumblers. Called “impressioning,” you need a super-fine Swiss file, good eyes, lots of patience, and a knowledge of where the tumblers are and how deep one cut is from the next (generally about 15 thousandths of an inch). With practice, there is no limit on how successful one can become at this technique.
